Heard bout this cafe since long long time ago, but never had a chance to pop by for a meal until yesterday…

Initially all looks good, there was a decent crowd, website looks funky and the actual place looks funkier still, menu was so colourful and happy looking, and there were even tealight candles for better ambience! (lights were a bit too dim though)

So we all ordered our food with great expectations…Some of us purposely chose those recommended dishes, I had the garlic crusted dory whereas my friend had the soft shell crab pasta..

Sadly, none of them were up to par.

My garlic crusted dory…had too little garlic…the dory was quite fresh, I liked the mouthfeel, but the garlic crust was lacking in flavour…the potato chunks that accompanied the dish were…totally…bland….and I can’t even find ketchup to add to the taste…

My friend’s soft shell crab wasn’t very fresh in my opinion, thai express serve better soft shell crab. Her pasta was very creamy though.

My other friend’s fish tango pasta was one of the better dishes on our table (ironically it wasn’t chef recommended), but it didn’t look like it had much ingredients..

Another friend ordered chicken cutlet look-a-like with black pepper sauce. It’s actually not bad, if not for the super oily skin n batter…

I guess we either ordered the wrong food or the food isn’t very good to begin with. Oh well…I liked the place though, very cheerful..

I guess I won’t be going back again..

14/3/08:

I went back on my word, I paid Ms Clarity a visit again to try the much raved about cordon bleu with my other friend. I think it was hunger, and the 不甘愿 - feeling I had from visiting a much raved about place and not trying the much raved food.

I ordered chicken cordon bleu, whereas my friend had the fish cordon bleu (after me warning her about all the recommended dishes). I like the sauce accompanying what I ordered, quite different from your usual mayonnaise sauce and went quite well with the chicken. However, have you ever tried using a knife to cut your chicken and have the whole table shake along with your cutting movements? That was how tough the chicken was….

I think I would order the fish one the next time. The sauce for the fish cordon bleu was normal…nothing exceptional, but at least I don’t have to chew so much. If I go back again.
